TELEPHONE CALLS
ANNA

Ring, Ring goes the telephone.

It's always exciting to know who is calling on the telephone.

Hello! May I help you says my mother as she answers the telephone.

It's my father calling to let my mother know that he will be home late.

My name is Sally and I am only 5 years old.

I stay at home with my mother because I'm not old enough to go to school yet.

I like to answer the telephone when it rings and my mother taught me how.

She said it's important to politely ask who is calling.

The first thing I do is ask "May I help you?" then ask who is calling.

Ring! Ring! There goes the phone again.

Hello! May I help you? This is Sally speaking. Who is calling please?

It's my grandmother calling to say hello to me.

My grandmother wants to take me to the zoo this weekend!

She says she will pick me up at 11:00 Saturday morning.

We can go to the zoo together and then go have lunch at the restaurant.

I ask my mother if it's okay and she nods that it will be fine.

I thank my grandmother and then say good-bye as I hang up the telephone.

Today is Thursday, so in two days I will get to go with my grandmother.

Ring! Ring! The telephone is ringing again and I wonder who it is this time.

Hello! May I help you, this time it's my aunt May on the telephone.

My aunt May says I'm a big girl to be answering the telephone.

She tells me that she will join grandmother and me at the zoo too.

She will bring my cousin Mary so we can play together.

It's so exciting to answer the telephone especially when it's for you.

I'm so glad my mother taught me how to answer the telephone.
